With the aim of gaining greater longevity for Earth Day, the celebration will form a milestone marked by the organization of awareness and environmental education activities for the protection of the environment. Nearly 35.965 pupils taught by 1562 professors in 81 Eco-Schools will join together to promote environmental management practices inside and outside the school.
These schools represent 15 regions of the Kingdom (Dakhla- Guelmim- Agadir- Ait Ourir Benguérir- Youssoufia- Fès- Nador- Casablanca- Khouribga- Imzouren- Rabat- Ain Aouda- Salé- Tanger et Rabat).
Three subject matters (Water-energy and waste) will be organized around actions implemented through:
-
The organization of awareness campaigns on rational water management;
- The organization of clean-up campaigns in some neighboring beaches;
- Visits to ecological sites;
- Exhibition of work done by students;
- Visits: Treatment plants, HCEF nurseries…;
- Editing outreach materials related to water and energy savings and waste management;
- Presentation of theatrical plays;
- Dissemination of documentary films related to the event;
- Organization of study days and round tables;
- Tree planting…
The involvement of schools will contribute to make a true national success of this demonstration, inscribe environment in the middle of environmental education, and insure an important visibility for schools.
