HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, chaired, on Saturday in the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat, the signing ceremony of a partnership agreement on the "Young Reporters for the Environment" programme.

Signed by Deputy Chairman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment Lahoucine and Minister of National Education Mohamed El Ouafa, the agreement is intended to institutionalize the programme and develop environmental awareness among children as well as to promote participatory teamwork in Moroccan high schools.

HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, chaired, on Saturday at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat, the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Young Reporters for the Environment programme.

On this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa delivered a speech in which she stressed that "the praise this program has received at the international level never was an end in itself. In fact, it has provided an incentive to build on what has been achieved and to continue improving this model program in order to ensure sustainability."

HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, underlined, on Monday in Agadir, the importance of good governance of water resources for the well-being, peace and stability in the Mediterranean region.

Water-related issues and uncertainties like climate change constitute a major challenge for the Mediterranean countries, zones of geographical and climatic transition prone to a lot of problems mainly water shortage, Princess Lalla Hasnaa said at the opening of the International Symposium on Water and Wetlands in the Mediterranean.

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, presided, on Saturday in Marrakech, over the meeting of progress report on programme for the preservation and development of the Marrakech Palm Grove.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa presented the main actions implemented since the last meeting in March 2009. The upkeep of 75,244 existing palm trees and the planting of 425,000 other plants, out of 430,000 that the programme expected, are among the main achievements.
