The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection (FM6E), chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, was elected as FEE executive committee member during the General Meeting held in Dublin, Ireland on June 9, 2012.
This strategic position will enable Morocco and FM6E to participate in the development of FEE strategic programs.
The FEE, with its international network, was founded over 30 years ago by a group of visionaries from the Council of Europe who were among the first to witness environmental impacts due to human development. Its originality lies in its openly positive approach.
The FEE has an executive committee, appointed during its general assembly elections for two consecutive years. The executive committee is responsible for decision making and approving all decisions relating to development and good governance.
30 years later, the FEE has largely grown beyond European borders. With the success of its ideas and its programs, the FEE is now represented in 62 countries on 5 continents. Its international headquarters are located in Denmark.
Programs such as the Blue Flag, Young Reporters for the Environment, Green Key, and Eco-Schools, implemented in Morocco since 2002 by the FM6E, are internationally known and recognized programs that have earned us the official support of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and UNESCO.
Operationally, each program is developed nationally, autonomous from the national member, and internationally coordinated to share experiences and maintain common goals.
In 2004, through FM6E, Morocco hosted the first FEE General Assembly organized outside Europe. It is also the first Arab-Muslim country to implement FEE programs.
