May 18, 2017 : THE MOHAMMED VI FOUNDATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES, ORGANIZED A TRAINING FOR THE LOCAL TECHNICAL OFFICIALS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE KINGDOM’S BEACHES

• From April 27 – 28, 2017 in Tangier;

• From May 3 – 4, 2017 in Casablanca;

• From May 17 – 18, 2017 in Agadir.

The training is on sustainable beach management, environmental awareness, safety and signage, use of the technical tools developed by the Foundation, and coastal legislation and regulations.

The Foundation designed a project management manual to facilitate and structure the fieldwork conducted by the local authorities’ agents. It responds to their concerns and needs, which were documented in a study on sustainable beach and coastline management, carried out by the Foundation between 2014 and 2016, in partnership with the General Directorate of Local Authorities (DGCL).

By building the capacity of coastal communes, in accordance with the wishes of its President, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, the Foundation intends to enable the agents in charge of these issues to better manage these areas, and eventually generate socio-economic returns on investments in coastal protection.
