The Foundation has decided to take up the challenge concerning the quality of our beaches, following the international standards by relocating the European blue flag in Morocco.This eco-label recognized at the international level is attributed by
The Federation for Environmental Education (FEEt)
An international non-governmental organization which Mohammed VI Foundation joined as the second non-European country after South Africa .
Once the blue flag hoisted in a beach, it guarantees a good environmental quality and gives a positive and dynamic image to both residants and tourists. It is a vehicle for territorial marketing.
A series of actions
Within the relocation of the blue flag to Morocco, several stages have been achieved such as becoming member of the FEE (July, 2002), organizing a national information workshop (October, 2002) as well as preparing a faisability study on the conditions of our beaches (legislation, development, management and security).A pilot stage was also undergone in some beaches during 2003 season. It consisted in tests to get the conformity of theses beaches to the eco-lable criteria, to prepare the first blue flag campaign in 2004.Other projects are also planned, namely, training sessions for the staff in charge of beaches’ management, preparing the blue flag management procedures guide, as well as some other important actions related to environmental education.
 
 
  It is attributed for a summer season on the community’s request, according to the following 4 criteria:
