A royal commitment
The reign of the Late King Hassan II was marked by the latter’s mobilization order in favor of a water resources rational management. As far as the international community is concerned, this commitment was awarded through the institution of Hassan II World Prize for Water.
On the occasion of the Rio Conference held in 1992 and Rio + 5 in New York in 1995,
the messages addressed by the Late King Hassan II described the approach to preserve environment within the sustainable development view.

Shortly before his death, the Late Sovereign entrusted Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa with the mission of federating all the country’s synergies to lead the original operation :" flowering cities and smiling beaches ".

June 2001: His Majesty King Mohammed VI decided to give a new impulse to the royal commitment in favor of environment and created Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of Environment. Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa has been appointed as its effective President .
Involving all the country’s resources, federating all good wishes, developing and accelerating the citizenship action, such is the mission of Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of Environment
Recognized of public utility, the Foundation mobilizes its efforts on the following fields:
